Great story with a touch of brutality.

I remember the first time when I saw this movie I was left with a feeling of amazement and high on excitement when the lights came on in the theater. I have since bought it on DVD, and I still get quite excited when I watch it. This is truly a good story packed with action and very brutal fight scenes.

Daniel Day-Lewiz does a fantastic job playing "The Butcher". This scary yet fatherly figure is portrayed in such a way, that you do not know whether to hate, love or fear him.
DiCaprio has never been my list of favorites, but he does a good job nonetheless.
Cameron Diaz has always struck me as entertaining and very lively. She is cute but I have never seen her as particular attractive - until I saw this movie. Her manner and looks as Jenny are very striking, in my opinion.

The mood of the movie is very sombre and dark. That is really up my alley. The music is fitted with the movie very well, though there is a tin whistle in the start of the film, that gets on my nerves every time I hear it. At some select points there are street singers or bar singers, and it fits really well with the movie.

The fight scenes are spectacular! They are very brutal and highly vivid. They are good if you like that kind of stuff. If you do not, you may want to consider another movie, as there is a lot of it.
In general one of my favorite movies. Best viewed on a big screen with the volume on high.
