A good movie made too light by comedy and not worth that much in the end.
This is no was a good as the first one - “Get Shorty”. It does have a few good moments where Chilli gets to be the cool gangster, but no way near enough. It has a lot of fluff and too much slapstick/stereotypical humor for my taste.
John Travolta is brilliant as Chili Palmer. For some reason he is the perfect gangster gentleman. Very believeable in the role and quite inspiring.
Uma Thurman is quite sexy, but not really pretty. She is funny that way. Her performance is alright, but nothing special.
The rest of the cast contains a lot of fancy names, but most of them have very small parts. In a film about Hollywood and name dropping, I guess a little name dropping is quite in place.
If you like light comedy it is not so bad. If you like Travolta or Get Shorty, this might be worth the time. Otherwise there are better comedy movies out there.
