Best film I've seen in a long time! It's deep, you know one of those movies that leaves your thoughts dwell on story, development and characters way after watching it. It is not a fell-good-movie, so be prepared for that. The acting is sublime and the casting is through the roof, I only remember one scene with one guy, that seemed a bit awkward and out of place. I'd say, if that's acceptable, that it's 30% art and 70% movie. That's of course because I consider it an art movie, since it uses long stretches of time "just" showing almost still images to set a wipe and build the essence of the story/plot... I works very well! What I loved most about was the fact that it was a drama sci-fi, with absolutely NO focus on the sci-fi. At the same time it's a doomsday movie, and yet it's more psychological thriller/drama.(guess it has similarities to Moon from 2009) I was thinking of how Script writers often gets overlooked and the Directors gets all the fame, and that I thought that would be a shame if the writer of this movie should stand in the shadow of von Trier, but then the credits rolled over the screen and von Trier appeared to be both writer and director, and one must admire that peace of work! |
