This was some seriously weird stuff! An interesting story for a light neo noir psycho thriller, yet also very strange. It feels like a mix between a psychological experiment and an act of ruthless vengeance taken completely out of proportion. Apparently this is a remake of a Korean movie from 2003, and after watching this one, I do not think I will be watching the original.

Josh Brolin is pretty good in this role. I find it fascinating that he can play both a thickheaded action type and a deeply emotional, confused family man. Elizabeth Olsen does a decent job as well, portraying a warm and caring character.

There are a few fight scenes, but only one really stands out, which is the escape sequence. It looks super unrealistic, though I presume that was intentional.

If you are into weird neo noir movies, this might be something for you. Personally, I found it a bit too strange for my taste, but I still have to give it a 6 because of the strong acting, especially from Brolin.
