Batman as family entertainment. This instalment of the Batman series is starting what luckily only turned out to be a duo of comedy-Batman movies. Rubber-faced bozo-clown-like Jim Carey is playing an overexcited Riddler on speed, and Tommy Lee Jones is trying to keep up with the comedy. I do much enjoy both actor in other roles, but these parts are not suited for Batman in my opinion. Val Kilmer as Batman is not a bad choice, but not perfect either. Above average I would say. Nicole Kidman is always a treat, and this movie is no exception. The effects are poorly made, but I guess it was on average level considering the time of the movie. The U2 song supposedly made for the movie Hold me, Kill me, Kiss me, Thrill me is really good. If you like Batman en general, this is watchable, but is below average in my opinion, so do not let it be your first Batman movie. |
