A very slow story with very little going on. There is tons of suspense, but it is overly dramatic and simply not my taste. More than halfway through, I still had not really figured out what it was all about. Then things unravel in the final half hour of the movie, and I caught myself thinking that I must have missed significant details, as everything suddenly becomes something else. I know it does not make sense, but that is how the movie actually is. The timeline is scrambled as well.

Naomi Watts plays pretty well. She is very convincing at first and very confusing at the end. Laura Harring came off a bit vague in my opinion. Maybe it comes with her character, but it never got better by the end either. Justin Theroux did seem like a director full of himself. Very convincing.

The movie uses jump scares a few times, and I just hate them. They made me look away or just cringe whenever the suspense was building up, which was quite often.

I am glad that I have now finally seen the movie, despite the fact that it was not to my taste, and I am pretty sure that I will not be seeing it again. It is a David Lynch movie that has now been ticked off the list.

If you enjoy artsy movies that are mostly made for movie critics with a taste for the absurdly dramatic, I think this might be a movie for you. In my case, being a person with a slightly more simple mind and taste, I just did not get the hype. I give it four out of ten.
