The movie is a tour through the life of the notorious gangster John Dillinger from the 19030s.

The plot starts out with a prison escape and takes off with a high concentration of action, this slowly flattens out and generally becomes a slow love story with random bursts of violence, bank robberies and car chases. Unfortunately the slow parts stretches and stretches and takes over. Too much, too long.
It is hard to criticize this, as it is a story about Dillinger's life as a gangster, but for me it really killed the movie. I did not expect this based on the start of the movie, which might be why it bothered me so much.

Johnny Depp is good as a gangster (I stile haven't found any part, that doesn't fit him). Christian Bale is brilliant as a hard boiled FBI-chief. Marion Cotillard is a pretty girl and fine gangster doll.

The scenery is nicely done and really takes you back to the 1930s. I especially like the old cars and classic guns.

In general an interesting look into the life of a gangster, but too much slow moving plot with no contents.
