I'm not sure that I've watched a bad Clint Eastwood film...!? He tends to do a good job at directing. J. Edgar is no exception, but when it comes the telling the story of the founder of the FBI as we know it, the tale might be told in a rather predictable maner. It has honesty, flash backs, lies, truth... everything you'd expect in such a grand movie.
When it comes to my knowledge about J. Edgar Hoover it is very little. I knew he founded the FBI and "invented" fingerprints, but that he intentions and methods often were rotten to the core I had no idea. If you know as little as I knew, don't go "spoil" yourself on Wikipedia with the story of JEH, instead watch this fine crafted movie and then read up on it... Then you'll get a few extra suprisses.

I'm not sure JEH was a great man, but at least here's a great movie about him.
