This is a weird somewhat sequel that feels like a mess more than anything else. The story is simple, built on what you could call the suicide squad principle, where convicts with either skills or powers are sent on an impossible mission. The plot is pretty straight and adds very little complexity along the way. Idris Elba is good in his role as Bloodsport, and John Cena is a perfect Peacemaker, but Margot Robbie is absolutely fantastic as Harley Quinn. She is easily the highlight of the entire movie. There is obviously a ton of action and the effects are completely over the top. My favorite visual moment was when Harley Quinn was slightly hallucinating while fighting her way free. It looked wild but also oddly fitting for her character. If you are into action comedy with super heroes this could be a hit for you, especially if you enjoy silly slapstick humor. I watched it because of Harley Quinn and had very low expectations, and I think it made my expectations alright. |
