Tons of really tough feelings in this one, and I found myself getting emotional several times throughout the movie. The story is pretty simple: a man is sentenced to death, and a reporter sets out to prove his innocence. The question is, will he make it on time? The plot takes several turns where hope runs dangerously thin, and the tension just keeps rising. Clint Eastwood fits perfectly in this type of role and delivers a solid performance. Isaiah Washington is excellent as the convicted man, saying little but expressing so much through emotion alone. Bernard Hill also does well as the warden. The movie is dark, the mood is sombre, and the suspense keeps building right until the end. Will he make it on time? Watch this if you enjoy suspense, races against time, or emotional yet hardboiled stories. It is not for the faint of heart. I really liked it, but I do not think I could watch it again. |
