I recently watched Road House (2024), and while the story is very simple with only a few minor twists, it mostly follows a predictable path. I haven’t seen the original, but I’d guess this is a decent remake of that classic. Jake Gyllenhaal delivered a solid performance, and I also thought Billy Magnussen did a pretty decent job in his role. However, the thugs in the movie were way too stupid for their own good—almost to the point of reminding me of characters from a B-movie. On the plus side, the fight scenes were a highlight. They were fun and very creative, which kept me engaged. The dramatic parts of the movie felt obvious and predictable, but that’s kind of what you expect in a classic action film. Overall, Road House is worth watching if you’re into those old-school 90s action movies that have been remade for a modern audience. It’s not groundbreaking, but it delivers what you'd expect. |
