The enduring friendship between the Walling and Ostroff families is tested when Nina, the prodigal Ostroff daughter, returns home for the holidays after a five-year absence and enters into an affair with David, head of the Walling family.
Sweet little story about love, marriage, family and a scandal with the neighbour’s daughter.
My primary reason for seeing this movie is that I love Hugh Laurie in the series House MD. Based on the resume of the plot, I might have skipped this movie otherwise - and for good reason. It is not that it is a bad movie, but it is just not really up my alley. It is very light intrigue, very light entertainment (with a couple of goofs though) and just a little off putting (old man, young girl - eek!)
The performance of the actors is good. The lighting, cutting, sound effects etc. is above average. It is just that the story is a bit too thin.
I guess that the worst part is that this is probably a realistic situation happening more often that we would care to think.
