First of all, this movie isn't for everyone. In some parts it's extremely slow paced and the overall expression is very subtle. If you can appreciate this, it's an absolutely gem of a movie. Without spoiling too much the narrative is broken into three very different parts which makes for a very interesting structure that I haven't seen in that many other movies. Especially not in a movie like this one, where focus is more on the characters than the actual plot. Luckily for a movie based so much around the characters it has a handful of stellar performances (3 of them nominated for Oscars). For a movie that's so subtle watching it was like a roller coaster of different emotions. Surprisingly different emotions, which goes hand in hand with the overall structure of the movie. It's one of those movies that after watching it. You just feel it was an amazing movie, but without knowing exactly why. Highly recommended. A superb, but also very sad drama. |
