A very emotional and dramatic Danish feel good movie that also works beautifully as a romantic comedy. It is one of my favorites within the genre. The story builds slowly with a nice dramatic curve, and with a few twists toward the end everything comes together perfectly. It is both fun and serious at the same time, which makes it easy to enjoy in different settings. Niels Olsen is hilarious yet still manages to bring real depth to his character. He shows a lot of talent, with emotion coming through in every facial expression and movement. Sidse Babett Knudsen is a great fit as well, both fun and sharp in her role. Paprika Steen and Lars Kaalund add a lot as side characters and round out the cast nicely. This is the kind of movie you can watch with your significant other on a romantic evening or with the whole family on movie night. It works for both. If you are looking for a romantic movie or a light comedy, this might be a real hit. Just keep in mind that the language is Danish, with the original title being Den Eneste Ene. I would rate it eight out of ten. |
