An amazing, fascinating and slightly claustrophobic story that really pulls me in. I found myself gripped by every development along the way, constantly waiting for the next discovery, failure or surprising event. By the time everything starts getting critical toward the end, the tension becomes almost unbearable, yet I still had to see how it would all conclude.

It is refreshing to see a charming but not overly goofy Chris Pratt. He does a very good job portraying the hopeless and lonely situation his character finds himself in. Jennifer Lawrence is just as strong and deserves a lot of credit for her performance. She conveys the feeling of being trapped while also showing a sense of creative inspiration at the same time. I can definitely understand why Jim would want to spend the rest of his days stranded with Aurora. Michael Sheen and Laurence Fishburne also do a decent job in their smaller roles.

The effects and imagery are very impressive. Of course this is science fiction and with our current technology much of it is highly unrealistic, but the movie still makes it look fantastic. The space sequences in particular are very impressive.

If you are into space travel and the idea of being placed in hibernation for a century or two to reach another world, this is a pretty good movie to watch as a sort of preparation. And if you simply enjoy dramas with a limited cast delivering strong performances, I can highly recommend it. My rating is eight out of ten.
