An interesting and a bit scary perspective into what women would be thinking. Nick Marshall gets this unique ability trying to get into the female psyche for advertising for a range of female products. The plot is very simple and quite harmless. Maybe a bit too much really. There are no uncomfortable moments, where you want to leave the room and instead of getting too soft and romantic, the movie actually has a few laughs in it instead. Is it realistic... well, maybe not the mind reading part, but the thought all these women actually have would not surprise me, if they were based on reality. Women are complex and very hard to understand! The ending or "solution" his Nick's abilities is a bit cheap, and it makes you wonder, if they just wanted the movie to end quickly, as they were running out of pages. Mel Gibson is a brilliant actor, and for a movie like this, he really hits the nail. But both Alan Alda and Helen Hunt does a good job also. They all fit quite well in their part. There is a lot of focus on Frank Sinatra and some of his music runs through the whole movie. It fits well with the plot. In general a good solid movie for a cosy evening with your loved one. A bit too sweet, soft and simple for my taste, but still acceptable for a Sunday evening. |
