Eric is a new FBI agent, who is tasked with spying on his new boss Robert, who in turn supposedly is spying on the U.S., selling info to the Russians. We follow him in his new assignment and hos his work affects him and his wife. The plot is actually based on a true story, which makes the subject quite relevant in this information society we live in. What would it mean for a country, if the security agents were, who were supposed to protect secret data, actually is the ones leaking it? It is a relative straight forward plot with low complexity and only a few tense moments along the way. In a way, it is quite easy to identify yourself with the young Eric, starting a new job with an impossible boss and high demands from the management. The fact that he is suspected to be a traitor to your country might vary a bit though. The casting for the movie is acceptable. Chris Cooper is a brilliant actor and he is perfect for his part at Robert Hansen. Eric is played by the young Ryan Phillippe and in my opinion his performance is a bit weak. Somehow he just does not seem to fit the part of an FBI agent. The rest of the cast is pretty much in the background most of the movie, which makes it hard to form an opinion on them. There a very little special effects in this movie, and the music it toned down as not to affect the plot. In my opinion this is suitable for a movie like this one. I would recommend this movie to people with love for conspiracy theories and a good patience. In general a solid subject for a movie with a script and a main character just below average. It is a shame, as it had potential to be an exciting thriller. |
