Director David Fincher made his big breakthrough with Se7en (1995), this dark masterpiece of a crime thriller. Se7en has a simple but strong plot that still disturbs one soul to it's core.

A murder is killing people in sick ways using the seven deadly sins as inspiration, while two detectives, the seasoned Sommerset (Morgan Freeman) and the rookie Mills (Brad Pitt) tries to stop the killings.

Freeman og Pitt is excellent together and they make the trip through the unnamed city-hell easy to watch despite gruesome crime scenes that look like a series of nightmares.

The film's dark look still holds up today. The cinematography by Darius Khondji is striking and the same can be said of the production design by Arthur Max. All together is backed up by a good brooding score by composer Howard Shore.

Even after 25 years Se7en is still a creepy depiction of nihilistic evil at its worst and what it takes to stop it, while still being optimistic about life. Seven is one of Finchers best films and demands to be seen in a very dark room!
