Slapstick to the max! I am not a fan of overly funny comedies, and for me this movie was just a touch too much. I had to forcefully uncurl my toes at several points, and for me that is not a good thing. It was not all bad though, and it did have quite a few funny moments also. I even had to let go of a few laughs as well. There is not much to say about the plot. It had a single well put twist, but disclosing it here would be “a dick move” (hint!). The rest is just straight Hollywood comedy following the railroad tracks. I liked the introduction to the characters in the beginning of the movie. I do however wish that they would have been a bit long to let us get to know the characters before they begin their unexpected journey together. Acting was average in my opinion. Nick Offerman was good as Don while Kathryn Hahn was a bit horrible as Edie (both not central parts I know, but the main characters was really just average!). Watch it if you like American slapstick feel good comedy. |

This is your very average Hollywood sweet, feel good and laugh movie. There might too much swearing for it to be a family flick, but it's close. Comedies could be rated only on the amount of laughs the reviewer has. If that was the case this movie could received a slightly better score. What brings it down mainly just plot and lack of twists. The acting is great, the individual scenes works very well and yes yes yes so do the plot, but you know when it's so buttered up that you just know everything that will happen and when it will? Yeah just a bit too predictable. But hey if you like Hollywood comedies this is definitely one to watch, just don't expect an oscar for best script! Maybe for best scene with great use of the term: "Big Black Dick" though...
