If I were to write a movie featuring myself as main character (as Joseph Gordon-Levitt did here), I would definitely also make it about me trying to get into bed with Scarlett Johannson. I had read good reviews about it, but was let down a bit as it is really not that good. However it is still a interesting story about a guy who obviously has a problem. One thing is his priorities in life but also the extend of his abuse is off the scale. The development he goes through throughout the movie is interesting but maybe a little poorly portrayed. Scarlett Johansson has a medium size role, but her performance is stunning. She is brilliant as a seductress, but of cause everyone knew that. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is actually pretty believable in his role, adopting not only the attitude of a prick, but even down to the little details lige the way he walks is so much his character. Despite being a simple movie, it does leave you with a bit to think about. Generally how to prioritize your life. Once you have hit a certain bump in the plot, you know everything that is going to happen till the end, and it is a bit of a weak ending. I could have wished for more, but I guess this is still pretty good work for a first-time writer-director. |
