Slightly confusing story, but with good acting and impressive imagery.
Allright so Capt. Jack Sparrow is confused and does not know what he wants. This affects us viewers as well and the result is a not entirely satisfying experience. For a movie like this is best to have at least a general direction for a heading, in my opinion.
What I do like about this movie is the connection to the first installment and also the lay-up to the next one. This is a big web of stories that is spun quite elegantly and characters can have more than one role to play in the big plot. The reintroduction of Norrington was quite well done, and Capt. Barbosa as well.
Johnny Depp is still brilliant as Capt. Jack Sparrow. Either he was born for this part or the part was born for him. I am also a big fan of Bill Nighy and seeing (or rather hearing him) as Davy Jones just brought a big smile to my face.
All imagery and effects are very well done. It is really worth watching on a big screen with great sound. Good stuff!
If I remember correctly I saw the first Pirates movie three times in the movies, when it had premiere, and this second installment in the series I saw two times.
If you like the first Pirates movie, this is a must see. If you like pirate movies in general or if you are a fan of Johnny Depp it is highly recommendable as well.
