This is not a fantastic movie. It is, however, good entertainment!
To illustrate my point, I would like you to consider Vin Diesel and The Rock in a fist fight. It is not the impressive dance of a pair of martial artists, but it is fast paced and hard hitting. This is a plus in my book.

To me it seems like the focus on the cars and the racing have been shifted to crime, intrigue and a bit of drama. It is a bit sad, as the series of movies originally was build around the cars, but as long as the action is still there, I will be willing to accept it.
By my best guesses, we have not seen the last of the Fast nor the Furious.

Go watch it with a couple of friends or wait till the DVD comes out and watch it and a rainy afternoon. It is good entertainment.

Well don't go expecting anything else than a fast paced action movie, with nice driving, effects and some stupid oneliners. It's just like being back in 2001 where the first installment of the series was released. At that time the idea of a cop vs. criminal in the racing environment was a fresh good idea, but just like the continuos seasons of Prison Break took the life from that idea, so have the constant milking of the fast and furious crew.

That being said, if you like the other movies, this is definitely in better half of the series. I's say that this one lives largely on the relentless chase that The Rock represents. He's a unstoppable machine, and wont stop at anything. His a nice addition to the mix.

Action and cars is what is all about. No more, no less.
