"The School of Good and Evil" is a charming and enchanting fantasy film, Directed by Paul Feig, that apparently brings to life the captivating world of Soman Chainani's best-selling book series. I did not know this until after I watched the movie, but it would make a lot of sense considering the level of detail it contains, as one of the film's strongest aspects is its world-building.

The story revolves around best friends Sophie (played by Sophia Anne Caruso) and Agatha (played by Sofia Wylie), who are unexpectedly whisked away to the School of Good and Evil, where children are trained to become fairy tale heroes and villains. The two girls find themselves assigned to opposite schools, challenging their bond and forcing them to confront their deepest desires and fears.

The performances by Sophia Anne Caruso and Sofia Wylie are not living up to my expectations, they are, however, decently portraying the emotional turmoil each character experiences. Their character development is interesting if not predictable, as they grapple with their identities and question societal expectations.
The film also features supporting characters played by Charlize Theron, Laurence Fishburne, and Michelle Yeoh and Cate Blanchett as sort of a narrator. These veteran actors add depth and gravitas to the story, elevating the overall quality of the film.

"School of Good and Evil" embraces themes of friendship, self-acceptance, and the complexity of morality, making it relatable for audiences of all ages, but I believe it to be targeted to a your adult audience. I am not sure that it succeeds in delivering an enchanting cinematic experience that will leave viewers eager for more adventures in this bewitching universe, but if they make more of these I still might watch it anyway for the sake of curiosity.
