Good fun and tons of great action. Even though it is the third movie in the franchise, it is still golden. Obviously the story is very thin and the plot is rather straightforward. You just know how everything is going to go down and where it will end. But if you did not expect that already, you have not done your research very well.

Nonetheless it is absolutely still great entertainment, if you are into this genre of brainless action with a ludicrous cast super packed with action heroes known from the 80s and up until now. Stallone, Statham, Ford, Schwarzenegger, Gibson, Snipes, Lundgren, Banderas etc. and the list just goes on. None of them might be considered fancy actors, but all of them are great at action movies.

Aside from including actors from tons of movies there are also a lot of references to these movies within the Expendables movies. My two favourite moments are when Schwarzenegger yells “get to the chopper” in this classic Arnie-accent, and when Harrison Ford guns down an enemy helicopter, you hear the distinct sound of a tie-fighter. Those were goose bump moments for me.

The effects and stunts were great and it goes without saying that they were overly exaggerated. Perfect for what you would expect of this kind of movie.

I was entertained all the way through and seriously hope to see an Expendables 4 with an even more crazy list of action heroes.
