A modern medieval knight movie. There is no plug to any timeline in our world, and there is a huge mixture of cultures, traditions and skin color. It is a bit confusing at first, but once you get used to it, it is actually pretty amazing.
It is a bit of a brainless action movie, but the plot also has a few points where it drops the base and takes a sharp turn in a new direction.

I love Morgan Freeman. He is perfect at playing the noble rebel.

Clive Owen plays the typical hard boiled character, that he always plays, but there is a twist here, that I will not disclose to avoid spoilers.

Aksel Hennie playing the main protagonist is perfectly creepy in the role. Payman Maadi playing the emperor is too weak in my opinion. I am not sure if it is the acting out the writing, but I was not impressed.

The fights and stunts in general work pretty well. Their equipment, e.g. the japanese inspired swords, might not fit into European medieval times movie, but it works ok.

Overall a decent knight related movie with a couple of good fights and an acceptable plot. Watch it if you want to see Clive Owen swing a sword and go through hell.
