I have always enjoyed a good Jason Statham movie. This one might not be among the best of them but it is actually still pretty decent.

The story has been seen a billion times before; a terrorist group intends to wipe out a large part of the population with a virus, but the good guys will not let them have a key component which only they are in possession of.

The twist here is adding Dwayne “The Rock'' Johnson to the mix. This ridiculous, enourmus bundle of muscles adds the comedy and makes it into a family movie. It works, but it also takes out some of the darkness that would otherwise have been to my personal liking.

They end up bringing the plot to Samoa, the origin of Hobs, the character played by Dwayne Johnson and essentially also his mothers heritage. Here the comedy is turned up another notch, maybe unintentionally, and the quirkiness of the islanders is far beyond realistic and essentially unacceptable. I had a hard time uncurling my toes afterwards.

I have not seen Vanessa Kirby in many other movies, actually one one I think, but she does a decent job and is a good fit for her role.

Idris Elba is a good actor and a perfect fit for a scary villain. Unfortunately I think he might have been too serious for this movie. If you look at his performance, he does a good job, but in the overall mix of the movie, I am not sure he is the right fit.
I am no expert on the Fast and Furious movies, but I am not sure how it fits in with the overall Fast and Furious concept. Maybe I should watch a few more movies in that franchise. There are plenty to choose from.
There are numerous impressive and highly exaggerated fight scenes. At a few points I could not help myself from laughing out loud from the massive stunts and explosions.

If you are into brainless action movies this might be a good choice for you. The same goes for if you are a fan of either Jason Statham og Dwayne Johnson - or both.
