Epic western about the wild west legend

Who has never heard about Wyatt Earp? The man is considered to be one of the biggest wild west legends ever.

The movie is about Wyatt Earp's life from young boy to legendary lawman. The movie's cast is really impressive. Kevin Costner portraits the different periods of Wyatt Earp's life with a certain class. Dennis Quaid is also good as Doc Holliday. Unfortunately, Gene Hackman, Michael Madsen and Bill Pullman are not left many minutes on the screen.

Generally, the movie introduces way too many characters for my liking. The movie is nearly three hours long and tries too hard to include all episodes of Wyatt Earp's life. The shootout at O.K. Corral is beautifully orchestrated, and the movie does look good (sets and costumes). However, the movie could have been so much better (apart from illustrating the life of Wyatt Earp, the movie does not have a clear focus).

Wyatt Earp is not a bad movie, but it is far from perfect. I would rather recommend Tombstone (featuring Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp) which I find superior in almost every way.
