Remember, remember the 5th of November.
My streaming service finally added this movie to their list and I was quite thrilled and saw it as soon as I was able. Some say it is strange, some say it is boring, but for me it is both interesting, inspiring and highly relevant. “People should not be afraid of their government, governments should be afraid of their people!” - just sharp, poetic and right on the spot.
I do agree that the story about Evey is a bit odd and somewhat off the point, but it still serves well to show that despite of being brainwashed into obedience, people can and will still rebel against totalitarian regimes. The story about V, on the other hand, might be a bit thin on the surface. Getting revenge on a the people that caused you pain and suffering is a bit easy, but this combined with the underlying story about the Gunpowder Treason suddenly starts to make sense. I like it.
It has a high degree of the movie Equilibrium and most certainly the books Fahrenheit 451 and 1984 in it. If you like those, you will like this one, I think.
