Well... it is not a bad movie. Just highly predictable. The plot is based on a traditional love story where the couples are broken up and are forced together through a series of events, which makes them realize that they are made for each other after all. There are no surprises there, but what helps are the little details in between. When the series of events includes a corrupt cop and a nasty bookmaker, it will spice things up a bit. Not much, but a bit. Gerard Butler has recently been doing a couple of hard hitting actions movies, and he also achieves to raise the level of mild action in this one. It is still funny to watch this normally hard boiled guy in such a more soft movie. Jennifer Aniston does a good job playing the annoying ex-wife. In many ways her part really reminds me of Rachel from Friends, which is sad but a still a safe choice for a character. I am not sure if it is just her looks, her personality or just the writing of the role that does it. I need more originality! The effects and music are nothing special but well adjusted for a movie like this. Not too much but still there. Watch this with your girlfriend or similar, as it is too soft for a guys movie and too slow to watch alone. |
