Not a lot of story and not a very advanced plot, mostly just tightly packed action combined with a decent crime mystery. This would normally be the recipe for a mediocre action movie, but add high production value and a well performing cast, and you get something slightly better than average.
I always enjoy a good hitman movie, but already at the first hit, everything changes for this legendary killer. That is a shame, as it does not allow enough time to build the reputation she deserves. Trying to establish that reputation with a somewhat lame story halfway through the movie just did not work for me.
Nathalie Emmanuel did a good job playing the killer with a code and a conscience. Very believable. Omar Sy did a good job as well, playing the only honest French policeman. Sam Worthington fit perfectly as the criminal mastermind with his Irish charm.
There were lots of fights, gunfire and explosions, primarily involving motorcycles. For a large part of the movie, the action was kept pretty toned down, which worked quite well. But towards the end, things had to go bananas, with countless generic henchmen popping out of every nook and cranny. That was unnecessary and gave the movie a B rated feel instead.
The story takes place in Paris, which leaves ample opportunity for some beautiful shots. It actually made me want to go back there.
Watch this if you like a decent action crime movie with high production value, or if you have become a fan of Nathalie Emmanuel and want to watch a movie that is all about her. I give it six out of ten.
