A spacey acid trip with a twist of heavy metal. The story was slightly weird and incoherent at best. It was hard to tell what the idea really was and what it was supposed to end up with. Are we supposed to root for the ultimate evil, or is it the enemy? What happened in the end? No one knows. The music was obviously pretty great. Tons of classic hard rock themes from the 80s, which really adds to the whole experience. This is an animated movie and, as such, it is pretty decent considering it was made in the mid 80s. The animation has its own charm, and it fits perfectly with the strange and trippy nature of the movie. If you are an avid reader of the Heavy Metal magazine, this is obviously a must see. If you are into old, trippy animation movies, this could be a hit for you. It is a cult classic, and even though I have rated it below average, I still enjoyed it. I give it five out of ten. |
