A decent brainless action movie. There is very little story in there, and the plot is straightforward. There is a big and bad alien war machine, and we have to kill it before it kills us all.
In some ways, it is also a beautiful movie, as they are not only fighting the alien war machine but also the terrain and elements. The scenery is fantastic in many of the shots. That made sense when the credits started rolling, as some of the scenes were filmed in beautiful New Zealand.
The film mostly features Alan Ritchson, and his character is sombre, with a dark past but physically superior to everyone. This resulted in the movie feeling like a weird episode of the TV series Jack Reacher.
There are some super crazy effects when fighting the war machine. The mangled casualties might upset some people, as they are a bit gruesome.
All in all, a decent action movie to kill time. If you enjoy big walker war machines, this is definitely a good choice. I give it six out of ten.
