This feels more like a sleazy art project than an actual movie. Almost every scene seems like an excuse to expose more nudity. It is amusing at first, then it becomes silly, and by the end it feels downright absurd. The story is very simple with very few twists along the way. The original is in Italian under the title Monella, but I watched the English dubbed version, which probably lost some of the original's sass and charm in the translation. It is difficult to judge the acting when the dialogue is poorly dubbed, but based on the body language and overall performances I would say it is below average. Anna Ammirati, who plays Lola, is certainly beautiful, but like most of the cast she tends to overact, at least in my opinion. That may simply be part of the style of this type of Italian movie. Max Parodi, on the other hand, comes across as much duller than his character needed to be. I watched it because it is something of a niche classic, and now I can tick it off my list. As a movie, however, I do not think it was worth the time unless you are specifically looking for an abundance of nudity and very little story or acting. I would rate it three out of ten. |
