Do not get me wrong, this was good entertainment, but there just was not much substance to it. The story is extremely narrow and has very little meat on the bone, which makes the whole movie feel surprisingly short. The plot twist near the end was actually a decent surprise, and honestly a very necessary one.

Kate Beckinsale is brilliant as Lindy. She gives a very convincing performance as a deeply troubled and challenged woman trying to function in everyday life while battling her violent impulses. My favorite part is right at the beginning where she tries to fit in socially but keeps struggling in awkward and uncomfortable ways.

There are a lot of fist fights throughout the movie, although I found them slightly unconvincing. Either Lindy should have been portrayed as a lot more physically powerful, or her fighting style should have relied more on tricks and improvisation. There are also a few explosions that feel unnecessarily over the top. Sometimes it seems like the movie just cannot resist making a big boom even when it does not really fit.

Will there be a Jolt 2? If so, I honestly fear for the quality of it. That said, I am pretty sure I would still end up watching it. I would rate this one seven out of ten.
