A pretty decent story with a good plot. At first I found several aspects either stupid or too obvious, but later on most of it actually started to make sense. Even so, it never quite becomes a high end story, which feels like a missed opportunity considering the cast involved. Woody Harrelson does a great job as the down on his luck Harry Barber. Elisabeth Shue is perfect as the seductive trickster, and Gina Gershon is both beautiful and believable as the artist who loves Harry no matter what. Michael Rapaport, on the other hand, falls into the same stereotypical role he always seems to play. The use of special effects is very limited throughout the movie. The only really notable scene involving the acid feels a bit strange and out of place compared to the rest of the film. If you enjoy classic suspense thrillers and dramas from the 1990s, this is not bad at all. By modern standards I think it falls slightly below par, but it is still entertaining enough. I would rate it six out of ten. |
