A super gripping drama built around a relatively simple story, but it is so well written and executed that everything just feels on point. Even though the events are based on real life events that I am familiar with, I still found myself getting nervous at several moments as the plot unfolds.

Scarlett Johansson is absolutely fantastic here. She is perfectly cast and delivers a stellar performance, with her energetic personality shining through. Her ability to switch accent and style is genuinely impressive. Channing Tatum works well as the stoic war hero turned launch director, bringing enough charm to make his connection with Kelly believable. Woody Harrelson is also spot on as Moe, playing a convincing creep with ease.

The use of old technology and the way the film recreates the feeling of sending people to the Moon is very well done and adds a strong sense of authenticity.

If you enjoy a romantic frame or stories about the race to the Moon, this is a perfect choice. And if you appreciate Scarlett Johansson delivering a great performance, this one is really worth your time. I would rate it eight out of ten.
