This felt like an amazing and well played whole lot of nothing. The story is very small and concerns very little, with almost no real development beyond a constant downward spiral.
Harvey Keitel delivers a strong performance, packing anger, frustration and pain into the role of an abusive and crooked cop with severe addictions to drugs, alcohol and gambling. It is intense and convincing, even when it becomes uncomfortable to watch.
The movie is heavy and downright disturbing at several points. While it is clearly well acted, the overall experience is just not to my liking. For me it lands at a five out of ten.
