A nice yet very simple story, Honey Don’t doesn’t offer much in terms of depth, but it delivers exactly what it sets out to do. The plot is a thrilling ride that curls, twists, and intertwines until everything comes back together with a neat little bow on top. Well done!

Margaret Qualley does a great job as the private investigator Honey. She’s a cool and confident character, and Qualley plays her perfectly. I’ve always liked Aubrey Plaza for her quirky energy, but here she takes on a serious, slightly hardboiled cop role and she manages it surprisingly well. Chris Evans, always full of energy, is a great fit as the eccentric reverend.

There aren’t many action scenes, but the few that appear are low key and serve the story without stealing focus. The movie also includes some spicy and fairly extensive sex scenes that add to the overall mood.

If you enjoy a good crime mystery, this is a solid choice. And if you like a story led by a strong female character, this one might even be a hit.
