This new Nosferatu is a classic take on the vampire genre, though it reminded me a bit too much of the 1995 movie Vampire in Brooklyn, which is somewhat unfortunate. That said, the story here is decent enough to stand on its own. However, they added these high-pitched screeching sounds to amp up the scares, and while effective at first, they quickly became irrelevant and just plain annoying.
Even though the movie is set in Germany, everyone speaks in perfect, almost poetic English. I especially loved Count Orlok’s accent and vocabulary—it added a certain elegance to his creepy persona. Lily-Rose Depp delivered an exceptional performance as the lead female character. Her ability to show raw emotions while maintaining the fragile sanity of her character was impressive. And Willem Dafoe? Absolutely fantastic as the slightly mad professor of the occult. He was born for roles like this.
If you’re into scary movies, vampires, or the supernatural, this one is definitely worth watching. It’s eerie, atmospheric, and has a certain charm that keeps you hooked. Highly recommended for fans of the genre.
