Great american gangster movie. It is an important pillar in its genre.
You catch on pretty quick what is going to happen at the end, but the trip getting there is still a great ride. The story unfolds slowly and there are a few nice twists of the plot along the way. Particularly the development of the lead character Donnie Brasco, played by Johnny Depp, is very interesting to follow.
Speaking of Depp, he does a fantastic job playing the undercover cop slowly slipping into his alter ego. The anguish yet also conviction of the character is amazing.
Al Pacino is always fantastic in a role like this one. It seems like portraying a gangster is the exact thing he became an actor to do.
The sound track is pretty good. There are a couple of good classics in there which always helps set the mood.
If you are into American gangster and organized crime movies, and you haven't seen this one already, you have gotta do it! This should be a high priority for you.
