The short version of this review, could have been the following;” Silverado” is a rock solid, down to earth western with an all-star cast. Enjoy. ”Silverado” is a western with both thrills, action and even well written moments of comedy. It is one of those western that gritty but not too gritty, there is almost no blood and you get interesting characters with a backstory that is explained just enough to make the characters feel like real characters, but not so much that it slows down the pacing of the story. The heroes are charming, decent frontier men and women. We see a young Kevin Costner as a lightning-fast gunslinger with what might be ADHD. The villains are evil selfish men without being ridiculously bloody and monstrous ghouls. Brian Dennehy stands out here as the charming, smiling, power-hungry and psychopathic Sheriff. The cast consists of so many great actors that it would take too long to mention them all in this review. I will however mention that not one character in this movie was miscast in my opinion and it seems like all the actors had fun making this movie and there is great chemistry between the actors in all their scenes. Lawrence Kasdan made ”Silverado” in 1985 when movies usually did not have unnecessarily much CGI and most of the time ”Silverado” gives me a feeling of being “real”. I have had a good time, every time I have watched ”Silverado”, and if you like you would enjoy a western that takes itself seriously, but not too seriously and knows what it is, I recommend you give ”Silverado” a chance. |
