More Tony Stark than Iron Man

I have never been a dedicated comic book reader, but have always loved superhero movies, and Marvel in particular. Of all the Marvel characters Iron Man is my favorite.

I know that the general argument against Iron Man is that if you take the robotic suit away, Tony Stark will only be playboy showoff. That is correct, and that is partly what this movie is about. Tony Stark is just a human in a fancy suit of armour,  and fighting aliens, meeting Nordic gods etc. will upset his mind just a bit.

This movie has had lot of negative critique saying that it is too much Stark and too little Iron Man. I like Stark and find it great that they try to explain a bit about the guy inside the suit. What I did not like was the (in my opinion) overdone half hour long full auto robot fight scene. The effects were good, but that just turns this otherwise great movie into only a good movie.

I saw this in 3D, but I think I would have enjoyed it more, if it were only in 2D. I do not think they used the 3D effects nearly enough to justify it. The only time I was impress was during the dialogues between two people where the cutting switched between the two characters talking and the near one were out of focus with his/her back to to the camera while the other were in focus and the subtitles were placed somewhere between them. That was good.
The giant fight and flight scenes did not make sufficient use of the 3D effects.

If you like superhero movies, Marvel, and/or Iron Man, this is clearly a must see. Go to a big movie theater and watch it in 2D.

One question: why does Pepper's clothes not burn?

So I've previously reviwed Iron Man and Iron Man 2 and both have recieved a score of 8/10 which is a freaking awesome score. But yeah I am a Marvel and super hero fan, so that might also be reflected in those scores.

Now the third installment in the series has arrived and as I feared they(Director, Author or production company I don't know) have fallen into the classic trap of making a sequel:
"Turning all the knops past eleven"

Let's put a cute boy in, let's put a funny dog in, let's put an army of robots in, let's do even more slappier slap stick humor. That's just not how you make a good sequel IMO.

Besides these things it's geniune Iron Man movie with all the good humor and action.

Tony Stark is still an full of himself douch that pulls through and delivers when time and resources are scarce.

I like the whole Avengers, Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man mash up Marvel are doing in Hollywood these days, and that is actually carried over to this movie in a nice way. For a Marvel fan like me there could be more, but it makes sense not leave the rest of the world out.

I did enjoy it, especially the epic twist in the plot('nough said), but the first two are a bit more clean than this...
