If you like slow paced indie movies focused on character development...and are capable of ignoring a few overly long scenes. Then you may be able to enjoy this movie as much as I did. Oh yea - it helps to be a massive fan of Anne Hathaway as well! Rachel Getting Married has a very authentic feel to it, from the performances and script to the hand held cameras. Anne Hathaway delivers an amazing performance that almost won her an Oscar and the rest of the cast is also doing a great job. The premise for the movie is basically that the wayward daughter is returning home for her sisters wedding. As more and more is revealed about the family, demons from the past must be faced. I won't spoil it for you, but not everything is as happy as it may seem with this family. The only bad thing I can say about this movie is that there are some scenes that seem a bit redundant and way too long. These shots occur several times throughout the movie and every time nothing happens. Their only purpose seems to be 'establishing mood or feel', which can be a good thing, sometimes! I would have preferred if they had tightened the script/screenplay a bit. Highly recommended. |
