A “black hat” is a hacker that violates and breaks into computer security systems for their own personal gain or just general malice as opposed to the “white hat” who is an ethical computer hacker, who specializes in penetration testing the security of an organization's information systems. Then there is the third kind of hacker known as a “grey hat” who hacks with good intentions but at times without permission.
This movie touches all three kinds, but the main character is somewhat within the grey hat area.

*MINOR SPOILERS BELOW*

This is a nice “hacker movie” with a decent plot with a huge twist in the end. Be prepared to be surprised.
Unfortunately the twist in the plot also results in a turn it gerne in the end, and that is a bit of a shame, as it suddenly just turns into something that it did not start out as. I wish this would have been solved the hacker way and not by violence alone.

I was a bit surprised to see Chris Hemsworth in a role as a world-class hacker. Normally he would be cast as a hard hitting action type of guy, but as it turns out, he is just as good as a hacker as a special ops soldier.
Out of the rest of the cast, the performance of Tang Wei stuck out. She might have some potential success in the coming years.
John Ortiz, playing the main villain, did not convince me. Somehow I did not believe that he wrote or even put together the master virus.

Being something of a computer nerd myself, I do have some experience with hacking and I just love how they used the Linux command line interface, however faulty it may be. It is always fun when the movie shows something that at least looks like the real world.

If you are into computer related action movies (or just Chris Hemsworth in general) this movie is recommendable as decent entertainment. It is not too heavy in the computer stuff, so anyone passionate about tech action should be able to enjoy it.
